My husband is an excellent navigator and easily, quickly mastered the Tokyo subway system, he even found joy in its design and signage. (He is a designer after all). Before jumping on the subway, we ventured down the street to one of Tokyo's most famous shrines, the sensoji temple. As most heavily populated sites go, there's about 3/4 mile of shops lining the entrance to this shrine, although we got there early and witnesses the calm before the storm.
I'm standing in front of the beautifully painted closed shop doors which had different scenes of a festival throughout the line of shops.
Famously old street with statues representing the previous residents, this one picture here and below was a known thief!
We visited the temple, walked the grounds and marveled at the beauty.
A large sandal, someone walked a far distance to get to this shrine & this is in honor of that journey.
I love these things. Ok, after this we headed to the imperial palace east gardens. See next post.
