IAfter the thrilling visit to the fish market, we headed to the shinjuku area to the 45th floor of the Tokyo metropolitan government building where the governor works. From the top we saw views of the sprawling city, locations of the upcoming 2020 Olympic sites and the highlight, Mt Fuji!
We then went into the famed "Hands" store with all the quirky, spectacularly Japanese products for sale in any category. Did some shopping and headed off to a neighborhood style authentic Japanese lunch.
And this incredible toilet! Imagine this old wooden house, traditional tatami mat style, creaking staircase where each step only fits your foot sideways up to a bathroom which housed this toilet. Admittedly, I've become fairly obsessed with toilets here as any good American awed by an improvement in the bathroom experience. This said toilet runs a sink after you've flushed right at the top, and was heated, which is such a pleasant surprise. Other toilets offered white noise to play out of speakers so your nearby fellows aren't the wiser. There's powdered deodorizing smell deterrents as another button option. But most of them still need manual flushing! Ok, i'm done with piece on Japanese toileting, although if anymore ingenuity is discovered, expect a full report.
